Amos, born May 25, came into our lives when he was ten weeks old. We had just lost our precious Jasper and were broken hearted. This bouncing bundle of continuous energy certainly is a diversion of major proportions. He is adorable, funny, exasperating... a blur of all encompassing love. He is a blue eyed, blue merle, Australian Shepherd. When I tell anyone who knows about dogs we have an Aussie puppy they sort of shiver and say things like "Oh my!!!" and "you'll get YOUR exercise". Aussies are noted for their exceptional intelligence, their need to have a job and their exuberance. Well, he sure is smart. He learned "sit" right off and he is doing very well with "heel", "down", and "look at me". (We are working every day on "come" and "leave it".) He does come when Skip calls him, of course he is really Skip's dog so that is good. Skip is the one who gets up in the night with him and cleans up after him if there is an accident. Amos loves to go to the barn to feed the horses with either of us and also "helps"in the garden. He loves to meet people and dogs when we go for walks on the road and is trying very hard not to jump up on people... I am really working on that one. In another month he will have all his shots and be able to go to Banner forest, and other places, like the beach, for long walks. When he is a year old he will be able to run with Skip but for now he and I walk a mile in the morning and we add a little to that every day. He has learned cats have claws. He loves his Dynamite dry food and he loves to CHEW on everything and anything he can. He did learn not to chew on people quite quickly, thank goodness. He loves to play fetch, squeak his squeaky toy and find sticks to carry around in the yard. In the evening he will sit on the bed with us and watch Cesar Milan with interest or chew on a chewie. Quite the snuggler he is now sleeping mostly through the night without having to go out. We look forward to doing lots of fun things with him, he is quite the love.
Cappy's mom, Angela, bought a mare at a slaughter auction for $10 over the pound price; a starving, unbroke mare no one else wanted. She became an amazing all around horse and Angela bred her and Cappy was born. He was broke as a cutting and reining horse but because of his size (16.5 hands) he was switched to dressage at the age of 5. He was shown and excelled, winning many blue ribbons. He has been a photo model, a Santa's horse, trail horse and parade horse. Angela rode him in full costume, most recently, at the National Folk Festival in Butte, MT. Everyday, he is her trail horse, riding in Banner Forest, which is where Skip met them. Angela is a Tribally Certified Indian Artist, specializing in 19th century Plains and Plateau Indian art. She made the gear Cappy wears here, which is classic 19th century Nez Perce/Cayuse horse gear. It is the type of gear the Appaloosa horse would have been ridden in, especially for tribal gatherings and parades. Cappy loves to dress up and parade. He does not mind all the "clothes" or parading through crowds of 20,000 people. Angela also works as an antique Indian art conservator and makes contemporary blown and cast glass based on 19 the century plains and plateau Indian Art. Theo is a chocolate point Siamese with brilliant blue eyes. He owns his mom, and her son, and rules the roost in their house. He loves to play, be fussed over and roll on his catnip filled boogie mat. His mom ordered a vase of his likeness and when it arrived Theo hissed and spit at it because he thought another cat was invading his space. Theo is very active on catster... you can see more about Theo on his page there: http://www.catster.com/cats/626592
